Microbiome and Diet to prevent recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection

The Lozupone Lab has NIH funding to study the role of diet/microbiome interactions in Clostridioides difficile infection and whether diet intervention can prevent C. difficile recurrence (a) (U01 AI150589 Dietary and synbiotic strategies to protect against Clostridioides difficile infection). This work couples experiments in gnotobiotic and conventional mouse models and a diet intervention to determine whether a higher fiber/ lower fat diet can prevent the recurrence of C. difficile in cancer patients.
